Our federal government has violated these principles in many ways, including the following:
- Passing laws without regard to the enumerated powers in the Constitution
- Weakening the Bill of Rights to allow the confiscation of private land for private use.
- Imposing onerous regulations that diminish the value of private property
- Government ownership and control of businesses
- Restricting political speech through campaign finance laws
- Ineffective action to stop illegal immigration
- Appointing judges who invent laws and dictate social policy
- Restricting the ability of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms
- Voting on bills before our representatives have read and debated them
- Confiscatory taxation
- Running deficits and saddling future generations with the resulting debt.
- Using the power of the government to redistribute wealth and favor certain groups
- Passing laws that do not apply to certain elected officials
