The President of the United States posted this overnight:

The sitting President of the United States is naming a conspiracy, naming its ringleader, and demanding that the law be applied to a former president of the United States.

For nine years, the American people have lived with the consequences of what happened before the 2016 election.

Hillary Clinton’s campaign paid for the Steele dossier through her law firm.

The FBI used that opposition research to obtain FISA warrants on Trump campaign aides. American citizens, including Lt. General Michael Flynn, were unmasked by senior Obama officials.

And according to declassified documents released by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, CIA Director John Brennan personally briefed President Obama on the Clinton campaign’s plan to smear Donald Trump.

President Trump has a name for what all of that adds up to. He called it “the biggest political crime in American history, by far.”

I served as Secretary of State of Ohio, where I ran elections in the largest counties in the most heavily contested swing state in the country.

So let me tell you what we used to call it in the textbooks when a sitting president weaponized the intelligence community against the opposition party’s nominee.

We called it the thing this country fought a revolution to prevent.

We called it tyranny.

And when the men who did it knew exactly what they were doing, history called it treason.

President Trump used that word too. He shared a post that read, “Arrest Obama the traitor.”

He described his predecessor as “demonic.”

The paper trail behind those words is nine years deep, and the media has not been able to bury it.

The press deserves a word, too. The same papers that buried the Hunter Biden laptop are clutching their pearls now. They buried the lab leak before that. They buried the truth about Hillary’s server and the Russia hoax for nearly a decade.

President Trump had a word for them, too. “The Failing New York Times, which is one of the worst newspapers anywhere in the World, and is losing subscribers on an hourly basis, is now at it again.”

He went further. “Just like they covered my Landslide 2024 Presidential Election Victory inaccurately, and without shame, constantly making major mistakes and incorrect predictions at every path along the way.”

Here is the question every American has to wrestle with this week. Is the law the same for everybody, or is the law a tool the powerful use against the rest of us while shielding themselves?

Hunter Biden took a plea deal.

Roger Stone did the perp walk with CNN ready to film across the street.

Steve Bannon went to prison.

General Flynn was railroaded for years.

Peter Navarro served his sentence. Catholic grandmothers praying outside abortion clinics were dragged out of their homes by federal tactical teams over a six-foot difference of opinion at a clinic door.

And we are supposed to believe that the man who sat in the Oval Office while his CIA director briefed him on Hillary Clinton’s plan to frame the opposition for Russian collusion gets to spend his retirement giving paid speeches and opening presidential libraries?

The law is the law, or the law is nothing.

There is no third option in a republic.
