Homesteading is a way of life that focuses on being self-sufficient, sustainable, and connected to the land.

It involves growing food, raising animals, and reducing dependence on others to live a fulfilling and independent life. Homesteading is a great way to get back to basics, save money, and live sustainably. However, as a beginner, it can be challenging to know where to start.

To help you on your journey, we’ve created this beginner’s guide to homesteading. From gardening and food preservation to raising livestock, this guide will provide you with ideas to help kickstart your homesteading journey.

How long would your family eat if the trucks stopped tonight?

Count it. Most of our homes hold about three days of food. The stores behind them — three more. After that, you're standing in a parking lot with a thousand other people who also hoped somebody else had a plan.

That's not a movie. That's arithmetic. One storm, one blackout, one bad week at the ports — and it's your kitchen.

Our great-grandparents never worried about any of this. Not because their lives were easier — they were harder — but because they knew how to do things. They got through plagues, droughts, and a Depression that emptied half this country's tables, with no generator, no gadgets, and nobody coming to help.

And then we let all of it die with them. One generation. That's all forgetting takes.
