The jury foreperson in the trial that convicted Roger Stone, friend of U.S. Republican President Donald Trump, is a prominent Democratic Party player from Memphis, according to The Daily Memphian.

The website went to report that this woman, Tomeka Hart, is an attorney who served two terms on the Memphis/Shelby County School Board and was board president in 2008-2009.

Hart, who now reportedly lives in Washington D.C., also challenged U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN-09) and “has returned to the city frequently since moving to the nation’s capital, including late last year when she campaigned for Memphis mayoral contender Tami Sawyer.”

Hart, according to The Daily Memphian, spoke out on Facebook after prosecutors withdrew from the case in protest.

“I have kept my silence for months. Initially, it was for my safety. Then, I decided to remain silent out of fear of politicizing the matter,” Hard said on Facebook.

“But I can’t keep quiet any longer. I want to stand up for Aaron Zelinsky, Adam Jed, Michael Marando, and Jonathan Kravis – the prosecutors on the Roger Stone trial,” Hart went on to say

“It pains me to see the DOJ now interfere with the hard work of the prosecutors. They acted with the utmost intelligence, integrity, and respect for our system of justice. For that, I wanted to speak up for them and ask you to join me in thanking them for their service.”

As The Tennessee Star reported in November, Stone was found guilty of witness tampering and lying to Congress about his pursuit of Russian-hacked emails damaging to Hillary Clinton’s 2016 election bid.

Stone was convicted of all seven counts in a federal indictment that accused him of lying to Congress, tampering with a witness and obstructing the House investigation into whether the Trump campaign coordinated with Russia to tip the 2016 election.

Stone denied wrongdoing and consistently criticized the case against him as politically motivated. He did not take the stand during the trial and his lawyers did not call any witnesses in his defense.
