Newspaper reporters often ask, “Why are you running? What do you think is the most important issues facing West Virginia and how would you address them?

I’m fond of the quote, “Don’t limit a child to your own learning for they were born in another time.” How true it is for our time. The pathways to success can take so many different forms for West Virginia’s children. Our educational system should be a solid foundation for them , whatever pathway they choose.
We are blessed with hardworking, dedicated teachers who care deeply about the future of their students. However, technology is outpacing our education, and the divide is growing. We must look to other states who are successfully preparing students for the technological age. Tailored STEM classes, expanded vocational offerings, tele-education, medical technology courses, programming classes, digital design drafting–all of these fields can lead to jobs in our students’ home state.
I want to work with educators and offer them tools and training needed to teach in the modern age. We can train the skilled workforce to manage plants and businesses.
It is time to elect people who will fight for these goals, listen to the citizens, the educators, workers, small business owners and be a voice for them in government. I can be that man.
