West Virginia has lost another 8,270 students.
State Board of Education President Paul Hardesty reports that second-month enrollment is now 226,687 students, a decline of 8,270 from last year.
That’s a 3.5% decrease in just one year.
West Virginia’s public schools are serving fewer and fewer children. That reality has to be part of the conversation about school funding, staffing, building utilization and the future of public education.
