About a week ago I submitted to the Marietta Times a Letter to the Editor. As of this morning I have not been contacted as to the authenticity of the letter, nor has it been published. Therefore I decided to post on my social media. This will not be exact wording but I will provide the main points.

Yesterday early voting started in Washington County. This is an important race for County Commissioner on the ballot. This race is for one of the three people that decide on how the residents of Washington County are represented in local government. A County Commissioner should be someone who will ALWAYS represent the people in all issues. That person is Stephanie Lang.

I have known Stephanie for a little over 35 years. She is a dedicated wife, mother, person of faith, and more importantly, an honest person. She is fiscally responsible both professionally and personally. This is someone that you can trust with the county checkbook. There should be no reason that Washington County’s General Fund should be in the negative. I am concerned that if the current “appointed” Commissioner stays in office, the county could be in fiscal trouble.

I believe also that she has the right stance on the Injection Well issue. If there is ANY CHANCE of contamination of the aquifer, the access to clean water could be jeopardized.

Also, a County Commission should ALWAYS discuss the issues facing the county PUBLICLY! I do not agree with keeping decisions made, from the people that are represented. I believe in total transparency.

It is true that I no longer am a resident of Washington County, however, I believe that as a former Washington County Commissioner and someone who was raised there, I feel that it is my duty to give my input.

Vote Stephanie Lang for Washington County Commissioner !
