More questions for WV legislators

A friend contacted Republican WV Senate President (and WV Lieutenant Governor) Craig Blair to request that the Legislature impede Governor Justice’s unconstitutional, unethical, and oppressive usurpations of the rights and authorities that We, the People, have delegated to our Legislature. The attached image is Blair’s response to her. The text below is the response I offered her when she sent me the image of Blair’s comments.

My response:

House Bill (HB) 2003 – a bill intended to restrict the Governor’s unconstitutional and unethical usurpation excused by “Emergency” of the authority delegated by the People to the Legislature – passed the WV House of Delegates 97-0.

Republican Senator Craig Blair as President of the WV Senate referred it to the Senate Government Organization Committee where he instructed the Committee Chair, Senator Mark Maynard, to ignore it. Chairman Maynard complied for 30 days of the 60-day Session until he was pressured by voters to consider it in his committee where it passed overwhelmingly.

Senate President (and WV Lieutenant Governor) Craig Blair then referred HB2003 which would curtail the Governor’s illegal usurpation of power to the Senate Judiciary Committee chaired by his friend and fellow Senator from District 15, Charlie Trump. He instructed Chairman Trump, not to ignore the bill because he had seen how citizens would respond, but instead to amend out of the bill the provisions limiting the Governor’s usurpations – in effect, to render the bill useless.

Senate President Craig Blair then allowed the useless version of HB2003 onto the Senate Floor where it passed handily and sent it back to the House where they declined to comply with Blair’s chicanery. The bill then went to conference committee where it died as Blair intended along with the hopes of West Virginians to be freed from the tyranny of Jim Justice. The only remaining hope we have is for the same Legislators who killed HB2003 to determine that they should impeach and remove Jim Justice from the WV Governor’s Office.

Meanwhile, when I advised House Republican Supermajority Leader Amy Summers that this exact process would play out with HB2003, she advised me that the Senate was merely holding HB2003 hostage to exert pressure on the House to move some of the Senate’s pet legislation. I asked, “Why don’t you exert some pressure on the Senate to pass the most important piece of Legislation this body has considered in years?” She chided me, “Oh, ye of little faith.” I responded, “My lack of faith (in the Legislature) is well-earned.”

This is how your elected employees serve you.

Senate President Craig Blair told you he’s “doing the best he can as a Legislator?”

Fascinating.

I look forward to his announcement of candidacy for Governor in 2024.
