WV Baptists for Biblical Values
7.31.2021
On Monday August 2, 2021 at 7pm the Charleston City Council will meet to vote on the Conversion Therapy Ban Bill. To read the bill click on this link, scroll down to ordinances and rules, and click on bill 7919. This bill will ban counseling provided by licensed counselors which may include pastors from providing counsel that does not affirm the LGBTQ lifestyle. For example, if a Christian counselor talks with a troubled teen who is having same sex attractions and attempts to persuade them this behavior is wrong or can be harmful then that counselor would be in violation of this ordinance and would be subject to fines and penalties. The first offense is a $1000 dollar fine. Each day the person is in violation of the ordinance the penalty will be another $1000 each day.
This ordinance is an attack on our religious liberties and our free speech. It seeks to silence and punish anyone that disagrees with the LGBTQ lifestyle. Parents are also being stripped of the ability to meet the healthcare needs of their child as they see fit. This ordinance only applies to the city of Charleston, but if it passes it will spread to other cities in our state that have passed similar pro LGBTQ agendas.
If you live in Charleston or know someone who does and believe in Biblical Values, then we need you to take action. We are encouraging every West Virginia citizen to call and email each city council member and encourage them to VOTE NO on the Conversion Therapy Ban Bill 7919. We are also asking for all that can and will, especially Charleston residents, to show up to the Charleston City Council meeting on Monday August 2, 2021 which is scheduled for 7pm. Please show up an hour or two early to make sure you get a seat. Here is the address:
Charleston City Hall
501 Virginia St. E
Charleston, WV 25301
Please click on the link to contact each Charleston City Council Member by phone and email.
Please share this with your friends, families, churches, and anyone who believes in free speech, parent rights, and religious liberty, especially those that live in Charleston. Pray this ordinance gets defeated in its entirety. Please call, text, or email if you have questions or concerns. Thank you for your time and have a great day. God bless!
