Charlottesville: Killing big fat lies.

I waited for some of the dust of Charlottesville to settle.  I didn’t want to write a knee-jerk, click bait blog about that tragedy.  Now I am prepared to respond.  We were all sickened by the violence and hatred.  Nevertheless, we must have truth.

In A Man for all Seasons, Sir Thomas More is asked to arrest a man who was bad and dangerous, but had broken no law.  More said he would not overrule laws even to arrest the devil.

William Roper: “So, now you give the Devil the benefit of law!”

Sir Thomas More: “Yes! What would you do? Cut a great road through the law to get after the Devil?”

William Roper: “Yes, I’d cut down every law in England to do that!”

Sir Thomas More: “Oh? And when the last law was down, and the Devil turned ’round on you, where would you hide, Roper, the laws all being flat? This country is planted thick with laws, from coast to coast, Man’s laws, not God’s! And if you cut them down, and you’re just the man to do it, do you really think you could stand upright in the winds that would blow then? Yes, I’d give the Devil benefit of law, for my own safety’s sake!”

In Charlottesville, great lies were put forth—big fat ones.  But those lies were celebrated because they are lies that will allegedly rid us of racism.  Today’s leftist would break every law to get at the evils they see in society.

Without debate, without law, as the police were ordered to stand down, Antifa protesters destroyed private property.  Sorry, it doesn’t matter what you think of the property.  The rule of law was broken.  Today, it is a statue, tomorrow it could be your house…while your children are sleeping.

Many of today’s liberals are disgusting traitors to liberalism.  Clarence Darrow and Edward R. Murrow—liberal icons, would have been among those who would condemn removing monuments illegally.  They would ask, “where will it stop?”

When will this move on to banning Tom Sawyer or perhaps burning books?  Already we see the insanity in Chicago where a pastor wants to remove everything associated with…are you ready, George Washington!

The media will never admit this: not all of those who came to protest the removal of Confederate Monuments are white supremacist, and some who came to stop the protest are, themselves, racist.  To deny this is to lie—a big fat one.

Many on the left love to say that America is institutionally racist.  That myth was shattered by the election of Barack Obama.

However, those who scream institutional racism only want you to see one brand of racism.  They refuse to condemn their own racism.  They also refuse to see how our culture is codifying and institutionalizing a new racism.  This is the worst form of racism.

It is the worst because it is intellectualized, it is trendy, it is good for business.  It provides camouflage for acts of tyranny against innocent people.  It replaces old oppression with new oppression.

Terms like white privilege are no less racist than saying black privilege.   In many colleges right now, white students must—in the name of education—take sensitivity training to understand what their whiteness has done to society—that is racist.   When dorms post signs saying whites are excluded—that is racist.

When members of Black Lives Matter chant “Pigs in Blanket”, or “what do we want? Dead Cops”—that is racist.

Another big fat lie: we are for diversity.  This one makes my head explode!  Google fires an engineer for expressing an opinion.  Now be honest, and look at this this statement and see if it hits you with the same boatload of irony it hits me:  We are for diversity, but since you disagree with our diversity you are excluded. You’re fired!”

People planned to picket Google until they received death threats from Antifa.  End of debate.  That it!  They want all debate to end.

My friend, the left is against diversity.  They can only survive when group think is enforced. In simple terms…they want everyone to think the same way…otherwise, common sense leaks in.

It is this breathtaking hypocrisy that allowed the University of California—the birth place of the Free Speech Movement—to ban free speech.

What we are seeing is a culturally acceptable ethnic cleansing.   The left is in such a fever to cleanse that they have removed all reason and accountability.  They are so diseased with self-righteousness, that they were outraged because President said in Charlottesville there was hate on both sides.  Huh?

If the phrase “All Lives Matter,” offends you, it is only because you don’t believe all lives matter.

ABC, CBS, NBC are instruments in this cleansing—this one-sided point of view.  Television is reducing complex subjects to emotional arguments.  They have blurred the line of reality and indoctrination.  Edward R. Murrow saw this coming and said, “Our history will be what we make it. And if there are any historians about 50 or 100 years from now — and there should be preserved the kinescopes of one week of all three networks — they will there find, recorded in black and white and in color, evidence of decadence, escapism, and insulation from the realities of the world in which we live.”

It is at this point that squeamish believers look for an inspirational bottom line—pithy encouragement.  It’s not that simple.  We are in a season where all who love freedom must wake up.  We must see that our lukewarm prayer is out of order.  The sermons of denial must be replaced with prophetic vigor and a burning conscience.  This is the most dangerous moment in our history.
